A long-term patient in a Veterans Affairs medical center sent me a copy of Barbara Mary Monaghen's column in the Veterans of Foreign Wars newsletter. I nearly wept because she was asking for stuff you and I take for granted and stuff one would think a grateful government would provide out of leftovers from its Washington limousine fund.
