Shaw Claims Fifth Place with 824

The way Craig Shaw sees it, bowling a perfect game would be nice, but rolling an 800 series isn't too shabby.

Shaw, who came close to shooting his first 300 a couple times last season, reached a career milestone last Saturday night with a 278-268-278 -- 824 series in the Northern Lights League at Gage Bowl North. It's the fifth highest score in the city this season.

"It's overwhelming, really," said Shaw, whose previous best was a 776 last season at North. "I don't think it's set in yet. I'd like to have a 300, but I'd rather get an 800 four or five times than get a 300."

Shaw, 32, carries close to a 200 average in each of his two leagues bowls at North, the other being the Early Birds League on Thursday nights. But last Saturday was one of those outings he'll never f...
