Summary


The Topeka City Council agreed late Tuesday to put aside a half million dollars that was overbudgeted for a 1996 bridge project to enable the city to finance its transition to a council-manager form of government.

Council members voted 5-4 to approve an ordinance through which the city sets aside $504,372 in leftover money with plans to use what is necessary for the transition, with the balance then being returned to the city's general fund.
