Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on Thursday signed a bill creating a state park out of 80 acres of land along the Kansas River that once belonged to the Menninger Clinic.

The day park, near S.W. 6th and Wanamaker, would consist of a series of hiking trails and would provide access to the river. Currently, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks doesn't plan on charging a fee for people to use the park.
