Summary
Kansas is known for its prohibition heritage, but in the early years breweries abounded in northeast Kansas. One that became popular with travelers was in Council Grove behind the famous Post Office Oak, named by Santa Fe Trail travelers who used its stone cache as a mail box from 1825 to 1847.
