More than 500 firefighters from across the state and nation came to Topeka recently to say farewell to one of "the brotherhood" who run into fires while others flee.

Topeka Fire Department Capt. Anthony Cox - a son, father, husband and brother - died Aug. 31 while fighting a blaze at an apartment complex in southwest Topeka. An autopsy showed he had coronary heart disease that was exacerbated by the nearly 100-degree temperature that day and the heat of the fire.
