Summary
We call it the "beater." Once an attractive, mid-sized SUV fit for a bride-and-groom escort from the church to the reception, it's been relegated to curbside parking among the oil stains and potholes. But it can plow through the snow and ice better than most trucks.
Its neutral tan interior once resembled and smelled liked freshly washed linen but now has taken on the aroma of a pond-soaked black Lab and the appearance of a muddy duck blind. The air conditioning doesn't work anymore, which is probably a blessing. Fresh air, even 95-degree humid air, helps passengers survive the wet dog smell.
